It's frustrating to listen to people voice their indignation and outrage at being forced to look outside and understand something about the world they live in.
As far as I can see "regular Canadians" fear the precedent that this sets: that somehow if the Tamil's are allowed to make their desperation and misery public, Canadians everywhere will become part of the world at large.
And that might make hockey playoffs and video games finally seem like what they are: trivial pastimes.
